The Faculty of Computer Science carries out the Impactful Student activities in the Lake Maninjau area, West Sumatra as a form of concern and tangible contribution to the community. This activity involves students directly engaging with the community to conduct various educational, service, and information technology utilization activities in supporting the development of regional potential.

This activity is also carried out as a form of solidarity with communities affected by natural disasters occurring in the areas around Lake Maninjau. Through this program, students not only provide moral support to the community but also carry out various activities aimed at helping the community recover after experiencing the impacts of disasters.

In this activity, students provided assistance to the community regarding the use of digital technology, particularly in the use of social media and digital platforms to support tourism promotion and the development of the creative economy around Lake Maninjau. This assistance is expected to help the community in re-promoting local tourism potential and products, thereby being able to encourage the recovery of the local economy.

In addition, students also engaged in discussions and direct interactions with the community to explore the potential of the region that can be developed through information technology approaches. This activity serves as a means for students to understand the social conditions of the community while also providing technology-based solutions that can be utilized by the community.

Lake Maninjau was chosen as the location for the activity because it has very great natural tourism potential as well as cultural wealth that can be promoted more widely through digital media. With this activity, it is hoped that the community can become more open to the use of technology as a means of developing regional potential while also assisting the post-disaster recovery process.

Through the Impactful Students program, students not only gain learning experiences outside the classroom, but can also apply the knowledge they have to provide direct benefits to the community and strengthen social awareness of the conditions faced by people in disaster-affected areas.
